One Track Mind

So, now that I actually have more than one hobby, I've learned something I didn't know about myself: I have a one track mind.

I can only deal with one thing at a time, so when my attention moves from one hobby to the other, the former gets completely forgotten. That is, until I come back to it and, in turn, neglect the latter. Hence why I'll have major dry spells on here, as this blog (unfortunately?) seems to mostly focus on my internet/gif art interests.

I'm going to post about what I've been doing lately, though, because a nice offshoot of my bike polo life is that it's been giving me a lot of illustration projects to work on.

Most of it is, admittedly, polo related ...

... But some work was paid, or intended for side projects.

I'll try to keep updating the illustration bits I do. Realistically, I'd like to build a portfolio and get a few more paid jobs to help subsidise my income (and creativity). So ... watch this space?

"This is Relevant to my Interests"

This is too rad to merely reblog.

Uno Moralez

I can't remember where I got this link from, but I found it again in my uncategorized bookmarks yesterday when I was bored with everything else on my computer. Having recently acquired a graphics tablet, these illustrations got me excited again.

I don't know much about the artist Uno Moralez, his livejournal page is low on text, and what is written is all in Russian, but he does seem to do quite a bit of work for different publications. I love his line work.

Illustrating

So I haven't been paying much attention to the blog or the tumblr lately, since my attention has been directed mostly to bike polo and the bits of illustration jobs that it's surprisingly given me.

Illustration was something that I originally wanted to do before dropping out of OCAD and going to fine art and art history. Lately, with reality staring me in the face (in the form of an unfulfilling job in customer service), I've begun lamenting that old ambition which has grown recently with some minor jobs I got from friends.

I got to do the illustration and typesetting for a couple Bicycle Film Festival side projects - an alleycat race and the annual bike polo tournament (the ones posted here are becoming spoke cards).

Another fun project is making team logos for bike polo. I'm taking part in this winter's London Bike Polo League, as is my partner, Mark, so I got to design both our team logos. Right now, you can find a post featuring all the different team logos - there are many creatives in the community, so many of them are quite good and entertaining.

Up with creative jobs! Lets hope this is the beginning of a more interesting future (of making money).
